Charlotte Hunter serves as an Office Assistant and Bookkeeper for MyUrbanGospel.
Charlotte retired from the Internal revenue Service after 22 years as a Federal
Agent. She served as a Tax Examiner, Auditor and Exempt Organization Determination
Specialist. Charlotte holds a degree in Humanities and Accounting from the University
of Cincinnati.
Charlotte Hunter, a Poet and Quilt Artist, combines her poetry and quilt artistry
to create textile monuments to her city and country. She designed the New Millennium
Peace Quilt which is in the archives a Miami University. Poems for a President,
highlights a series of poems penned and sent to President’s Clinton and Bush. She
designed the Dream keeper Quilt and put together local women to sew the “Hands of
Joy Quilt” for a quilting bee at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Both quilts are exhibited
at the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati. Charlottee designed a quilt for Illinois
poet-laureate Gwendolyn Brooks. The quilt was presented to the Gwendolyn Brooks
Black Writers Hall of Fame at Chicago State University weeks before the illustrious
poet passed away.
Charlotte takes pride in Cincinnati, several quilts memorialize Cincinnati giants
such as Coach Franklin Shands and Father Clarence Rivers who revolutionized and
included African rhythms in Catholic Liturgy.
As a cable access television producer, Charlotte hosted the award winning show “Backstage”
which chronicled Cincinnati’s art scene.
Currently Charlotte is working toward a degree in Divinity at the New Life Bible
Institute.
