Avery Corbin is the Director of Operations for MyUrbanGospel.com. He continues to
host “Morning Glory,” a blend of spiritual programming and entertainment that inspired
listeners for over 10 years on WCVG 1320 AM. Mr. Corbin received his AS in Social
Work from Kansas State University, in Manhattan, Kansas. He began his broadcast
career as co-host and eventually host of Sunday Morning Joy on
KSDB 92 FM radio
at KSU.
Mr. Corbin served a distinguished career in the United States Army, retiring as
a decorated Sergeant with many awards for outstanding service. He served as a Chaplain Assistant throughout his career with tours of duty in Kuwait, Iraq and Saudi Arabia
during Operations Desert Storm and Shield. Sergeant Corbin also served tours of
duty in West Germany, South Korea, Australia and other stateside assignments.
Throughout his military service, Sergeant Corbin served on various community boards
and service organizations. He is past president of the Junction City Pace Setters,
a Special Olympics Team from Junction City and Manhattan, Kansas. He also served
as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for the Geary County Municipal Court.
Today, he serves the homeless community in Cincinnati: feeding, clothing, and providing
their spiritual needs.
Mr. Corbin is very passionate about helping young people.
After retirement from
the Army, he worked as a Residential Treatment Counselor at Hamilton County Juvenile
Court’s Hillcrest Training School for over eight years, where he also volunteered
as an instructor for The Young Father’s Program, which taught young men how to succeed
in life and in society.
Mr. Corbin has received commendations from the Mayor of Cincinnati and the Governor
of Kentucky for faithful service to the cities of Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio.
His favorite scripture is Isaiah 40: 30-31: “Even the youth shall
faint and be weary and
the young men shall utterly fall, but they that
wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they
shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall
run and not be weary; shall walk and not faint.”
